EXPERIENCE IN THE FIELD OF INTERNATIONAL COOPERATION

2014 October - November	IRAQ, KURDISTAN MAE - Italian Minister of Foreign Affairs Mission as "expert "for the Italian Minister of Foreign Affairs with the following assignments: a) verifying and improving the functionality of the Emergency Hospital in the city on the occasion of the increased influx of casualties caused by war events in the Mosul area. b) Medical and logistic reorganization of the health emergency service ' 122 '-the equivalent of the European 112 - . This service covers both trauma emergencies in the city of Duhock that the transfer of wounded from the front lines to the Emergency hospital.
2010 September - December	IRAQ NGO AISPO AISPO Country Representative and Health Advisor PRT Project financed by: Italian Minister of Foreign Affairs - Task Force Iraq In Tallil, project aimed at running an health unit for the population of Nassiriya area based on a “Mobile Surgical Unit - MSU” Project coordinator and head of project for the whole Italian staff. Start-up of the surgical unit inside the clinic and organization and promotion of surgical activities with medical teams of the General Hospital and Mother and Child Hospital in Nassiriya. Organization of the outpatient and lab services. Due to the lack of local professionals, I covered also the role of anaesthetist for all the surgical interventions. Health coordinator for the whole project’s activities including training to local staff in the mother and child area and on anaesthesia and emergency medicine topics.
May 2010 September 2010	INDIA NGO AISPO Leh–Ladakh: Feasibility study for a cooperation project focused on water & sanitation, mobile clinics for the Tibetan nomadic population living in Leh and surrounds (3.500 m). As medical doctor I took part to some mobile clinic mission promoted by Men Tsee Khang (Tibetan Medical and Astro Institute) for the promotion of traditional medicine and the nurse staff of Tibetan Children Village.
2009 August - October	INDIA NGO AISPO Project financed by: Regione Lombardia – Direzione Generale Sanità and Embassy of Italy New Delhi Leh–Ladakh: rBLS course provided to Men Tsee Khang medical doctors and health, students and teachers of TCV - Tibetan Children Village. Informative campaigns among the local population on first aid topics. Dharamsala: PBLS courses provided to medical and paramedical staff at Delek Hospital (Dharamsala) BLS course for Men Tsee Khang Institute Staff and H.H. the Dalai Lama staff. Delhi : Part of the organization committee of the course “Surviving Trauma 2009 – Paediatric edition” held in Delhi at Indian Spinal Injuries Centre and financed by the Embassy of Italy. Referral medical doctor in Italy for all the project medical activities including technical missions of Italian experts, training in Italy of medical and paramedical Indian staff.
2008	INDIA NGO AISPO Project financed by: Regione Lombardia – Direzione Generale Sanità e Embassy of Italy New Delhi Dharamsala: BLS courses for medical and paramedical staff at Delek Hospital and staff and students of Men Tsee Khang Delhi : Responsible of the course “Surviving Trauma 2008” held at Indian Spinal Injuries Centre - New Delhi under the patronage of the Embassy of Italy.
2007	ALBANIA NGO AISPO Project financed by: Italian Cooperation Office – Italian Ministry of Foreign Affairs Feasibility study for a project aimed at organizing a first aid and medical emergency service for the Region of Scutari in coordination with the Embassy of Italy in Tirana and the local Ministry of Health.
2007	INDIA NGO AISPO Project financed by: Regione Lombardia – Direzione Generale Sanità and Embassy of Italy New Delhi. Dharamsala: feasibility study for a cooperation project in the field of emergency medicine with the Tibetan Administration in exile and Delek Hospital. Delhi : medical director for the course “Surviving Trauma 2007 ” held at Indian Spinal Injuries Centre - New Delhi and financed by the Embassy of Italy – New Delhi.
April 2004	PALESTINE NGO AISPO Project financed by: Italian Cooperation Office – Italian Ministry of Foreign Affairs Feasibility study for a cooperation project aimed at training medical and paramedical staff of HSMU - Health Service Management Unit benefiting several hospitals in Gaza and Jerusalem.
November 2003	INDIA NGO AISPO Project financed by: Regione Lombardia – Development cooperation office Feasibility study for a system of medical transportation for patients from Afghanistan to Delhi. Training of Indian staff for the set-up of a hydrotherapy service in Delhi.
2002 July - August	AFGHANISTAN NGO AISPO Project financed by: Italian Cooperation Office – Italian Ministry of Foreign Affairs Head of mission for the NGO AISPO in the framework of the activities promoted by the Italian Cooperation in Afghanistan in the health field. Feasibility study for the rehabilitation of some hospitals and health centers in the region of Baghlan.
2002	ITALIA HANDICAP INTERNATIONAL Appointed by Handicap International – NGO Nobel price for peace 1997 – as Italian representative and co-ordinator for the Italian activities.
2001	TIBET NGO AISPO / FONDAZIONE DON GNOCCHI Project financed by: Regione Lombardia – Development cooperation office Medical coordinator of the co-operation project: "Strengthening of health services for the Tibetan population in Shigatse- Tibet/China" implemented by the Don Gnocchi Foundation and financed by Regione Lombardia cooperation office. Feasibility study for the same project.
July 2000	OUGANDA NGO AISPO Project financed by: Italian Cooperation Office – Italian Ministry of Foreign Affairs Technical mission as medical advisor on the project named "Strengthening the decentralization of the health care system delivery for the Uganda Health Sector Strategic Plan (2000/2001-2004/05)" promoted by WHO-Italian Cooperation Office.
April 2000	Induction Course as Delegate of the International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies.
1999 May - August	SUD SUDAN ICRC - International Committee of the Red Cross in Juba, South Sudan. Supervision of the anaesthesiological staff of the Juba Teaching Hospital. Organization of the intensive care service.
1999 May - August	PALESTINE NGO AISPO Project financed by: Italian Cooperation Office – Italian Ministry of Foreign Affairs Medical consultant on the UNICEF program “Health Services Management Unit (HSMU)”. Contribution No SC/94/0646 "Strengthening Hospital’s Emergency Units: Emergency Unit Triage System"
October 1998 - January 1999	AFGHANISTAN ICRC - International Committee of the Red Cross. Member of the anaesthesiological staff in Kandahar, Afghanistan. Responsible for the Organization of the intensive care unit of the Mirway hospital.
1998 July - August	SIERRA LEONE MEDECINS SANS FRONTIERES Emergency mission in Sierra Leone with Médecins sans Frontières - French and Dutch sections - for the first aid organization at Connaught hospital in Freetown.
1998 March - June	LIBERIA MEDECINS DU MONDE Medical Coordinator for Médecins du Monde - French section - in charge of the relations with the MOH at Monrovia for the planning of the public health programs in South Liberia. Organization of the vaccination program and community basic health care network at Gran Bassa Region, organization of mobile clinics which visited more than five thousand patients a month, organization of refugee fields. During the mission organized of the first aid network in town regarding the emergencies care during the pre-election period.
1997 March - April	SOMALIA MEDECINS SANS FRONTIERES Health coordinator of the rehabilitation activities of Bardera Hospital - Somalia - during a mission organized by Médecins Sans Frontières - France. In charge for the re-engagement of the medical and paramedical staff. Organization of a cholera camp.
February 1996	FRANCE MEDICINS SANS FRONTIERES e International Committee of the Red Cross Participation to the International Congress "Chirurgie en Situation Précaire" organized in Paris by Médecins Sans Frontières - France and International Committee of the Red Cross.
October 1996	SOMALIA MEDECINS SANS FRONTIERES Participation to an humanitarian mission organized by Médecins Sans Frontières - Belgium - in Kismayo, Somalia. Job description: evaluation of the first aid service and training of the anaesthesiological department at the moment in charge at the hospital.
1994 October - November	HAITI MEDECINS SANS FRONTIERES Participation to an emergency mission during the U.S.A. Forces landing and the arrival of President Aristid. Médecins Sans Frontières – Belgium. 1 - first aid organization at Port au Prince. 2- feasibility study for the set-up of an hospital to start a project of surgical care (Saint Marc hospital). This project has been implemented from 1994 to 1996.
